Vilhelm Parfumerie is an American niche house founded in 2008 by Jan Ahlgren, who built it around personal memory rather than abstract concepts. Swedish-born and free-spirited, Ahlgren moved to Paris young and worked in fashion before turning to scent, and he named the brand after his grandfather, a charismatic figure who shaped his love of early twentieth-century glamour. Each fragrance starts from a recollection, whether childhood summers in a seaside cabin or an imagined vision of 1900s Paris, then gets developed through a long collaborative process.
