Orto Parisi
Orto Parisi is the project of perfumer Alessandro Gualtieri, named for the garden in Puglia where he spent childhood summers with his grandfather, Mr. Parisi. Those small but rich gardens in southeast Italy were the starting point for his fascination with extraordinary scent. The house works from a striking idea: that the smells of the body are a mirror of the soul, to be experienced like a garden. That philosophy pushes Gualtieri toward raw, earthy, and animalic materials that more conventional perfumery tends to soften or hide, in pursuit of fragrances that provoke real emotion and memory.
The signature is bold and unisex, built to be felt. Fresh spice and a vivid bite of chili and black pepper meet cacao at the heart, set against musk, woods, and a quiet sweetness, with bergamot lending a flash of brightness. The effect ranges from rich and gourmand to frankly animalic. Brutus and Boccanera are the natural places to begin, the first aromatic and peppery, the second darker and edible, while Seminalis and Stercus push further into the house's raw, earthy extreme. Perfume as a portrait of the self, unguarded.
