Histoires De Parfums

Histoires de Parfums is the French house of perfumer Gerald Ghislain, who founded the label in 2000 and approaches fragrance as a kind of storytelling. He is a distinctive figure with a literary turn of mind, and that sensibility runs through the collection. The earliest volumes are named for the birth years of the famous figures who inspired them, while later series take their cues from flowers and plants, landmarks of Paris, and singular ingredients. The result is a library of scents organized like chapters rather than a conventional product range.

The house tends toward woods, spice, leather, and resins, compositions with weight and narrative depth. Bergamot and citruses brighten the openings, davana adds a fruity, slightly boozy facet, and licorice lends an unexpected dark sweetness.
