Gucci
The House of Gucci was founded by Guccio Gucci in 1921 in Florence, inspired by the refined luggage he saw wealthy travelers carrying while working at London's Savoy Hotel. He paired that elegance with traditional Florentine craft, and the equestrian-themed leather goods that followed turned Gucci into a global name. The first fragrance, Gucci No. 1, arrived in 1974, and a long line of men's and women's scents followed, several becoming collectors' legends. Tom Ford led the house creatively from the mid-1990s, followed by Frida Giannini and, from 2015, Alessandro Michele, with the fragrances now produced under Coty.
The scent style is rich and many-sided, in keeping with the maison's range. Fresh spice and warm spice frame woods and florals, with Italian mandarin and saffron lending brightness and depth, and pear blossom and red berries adding a fruity, floral lift. The collection moves from bright to opulent with ease. Flora Gorgeous Gardenia is an inviting floral starting point, while A Song For The Rose and Moonlight Serenade explore romantic and deeper territory, and The Voice Of The Snake leans bolder. Florentine heritage worn as fragrance.
