BornToStandOut

BornToStandOut is a niche house from Seoul, South Korea, founded in April 2022 by fragrance devotee Jun Lim as an act of artistic disobedience, a way to break from the strict norms he grew up with. His passion started young with affordable drugstore scents and deepened into a serious dive through niche and indie perfumery. The brand draws on Korean roots, riffing on Joseon dynasty porcelain with a bold red-and-white identity, and works with notable perfumers including Olivier Cresp and Florian Gallo. In early 2025 it drew investment from L'Oreal's BOLD venture fund as it expanded globally.

The compositions lean woody and sweet, with warm spice and a vanilla richness giving them a comforting, gourmand weight. Rum adds a boozy depth, almond brings a creamy nuttiness, bergamot lifts the opening, and saffron threads a leathery, golden warmth through the heart.
