Agatho Parfum
Agatho Parfum is an Italian house that takes its name and its purpose from antiquity. Its founding idea reaches back to the ancient master perfumer Agatho, who is said to have blended ointments for the Roman aristocracy of Pompeii. The modern house sets itself the task of recovering those legendary Pompeian fragrances and reworking them for a contemporary wearer, drawing on a warm southern landscape of citrus groves, aromatic herbs, and ripe fig. The work leans on natural materials chosen for their quality, with perfumer Maurizio Cerizza shaping the compositions.
The signature is a sunlit, herbaceous warmth. Bright bergamot meets the green bitterness of galbanum and the leafy, milky character of fig leaf, with a cool lift of mint over a base of woods, fresh spice, amber, and a quiet sweetness. The effect is Mediterranean rather than heavy, rooted in earth and stone. Start with 195 a.C. or Rossopompeiano to read the house clearly, then explore Castiamanti and Sileno. These are scents built to feel old and new at once, an archaeology of fragrance worn on modern skin.
